School Bus Driver Assistant

Responsibilities

• Assist the school bus driver in ensuring the safety and supervision of students during transit, including boarding and disembarking procedures.
• Support students with special education needs, including those with physical disabilities or behavioral challenges, by providing appropriate assistance and behavior management strategies.
• Enforce school policies and safety regulations consistently to maintain a secure environment on the bus.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding student behavior, safety concerns, or special accommodations.
• Administer basic first aid and CPR when necessary, responding promptly to emergencies or injuries during transit.
• Support evacuation procedures and emergency protocols to ensure student safety in case of unforeseen incidents.
• Handle confidential information responsibly, respecting student privacy and adhering to school policies at all times.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with children or students with disabilities is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of behavior management techniques for students with special education needs and conflict management skills.
• Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional training in special education or behavior management is a plus.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse audiences, including parents, students, and school personnel.
• Familiarity with school policies, safety regulations, and evacuation procedures related to transportation safety for early childhood education.
• Physical ability to assist students with mobility challenges or disabilities as needed.
• Strong sense of responsibility for student supervision, discipline enforcement, and maintaining a safe environment during transit.
