Duties

• Safely operate school buses along designated routes, ensuring timely pick-up and drop-off of students.
• Follow all traffic laws, transportation safety regulations, and school policies to maintain a secure environment.
• Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus, including providing wheelchair assistance when needed.
• Maintain discipline and manage student behavior to promote a safe and respectful atmosphere onboard.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, checking brakes, lights, signals, and other safety features.
• Respond quickly to traffic changes or emergencies with appropriate driving techniques such as emergency stop procedures.
• Communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and students to address concerns or provide information as required.

Requirements

• Must be 21 or older
• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a school bus endorsement or ability to obtain one prior to employment.
• Proven experience in bus driving, including school bus driving or transit bus operation preferred.
• Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, emergency response procedures for transportation, and transportation safety regulations.
• Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for engaging diverse communities.
• Familiarity with student discipline strategies, behavior management techniques, and school policy knowledge is advantageous.

Pay: $21.50 per hour

Expected hours: 4.0 per week
