POSITION: SCHOOL BUS DRIVER

Start Date: Immediately

Reports To: Director of Operations and Technology

Classification: Part-Time, Non-Exempt; Hourly

Hours: AM Route: 6:00 AM – 9:00 AM

PM Route: 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM

Split Shift: Availability to work both the AM and PM routes is preferred, but not required.

Compensation: $30-$35/hour, based on experience

JOB DESCRIPTIONRippowam Cisqua School is seeking a dependable and professional School Bus Driver to provide safe, efficient, and timely transportation for students to and from our Bedford, NY campus. The position is responsible for scheduled morning pickups and afternoon drop-offs at designated central locations throughout Southern Westchester and Fairfield County. This role requires sound judgment, strong communication skills, and a consistent commitment to student safety, punctuality, and professionalism. The driver will maintain a calm and responsible presence while ensuring compliance with all applicable NYS transportation regulations, school policies, and established safety procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Licensing: Must possess a valid New York State Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class A, B, or C, with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
• Regulatory Compliance: Must meet all applicable New York State Article 19-A requirements upon hire.
• Pre-Employment Requirements: Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening, Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination, and required annual defensive driving/performance review.
• Background Check: Must successfully complete all required criminal background checks and fingerprinting through the New York State Education Department (NYSED) and the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
• Communication & Reliability: Must be dependable, flexible, and able to communicate effectively in English with dispatch, school staff, students, and families as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to safely operate a school bus and perform required safety checks.
• Ability to safely enter and exit the bus and respond appropriately to student and emergency needs.
• Must meet all applicable NYS and DOT requirements for school bus drivers.
