Responsibilities

• Safely operate school buses, transit buses, or paratransit vehicles according to traffic laws and transportation safety regulations.
• Ensure the safety of all passengers by following child behavior management and passenger safety protocols.
• Respond quickly to traffic changes, emergency stop procedures, and unexpected situations to maintain smooth operations.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and dispatchers using clear language and active listening skills.
• Follow school policies on student discipline and behavior management to foster a respectful environment onboard.
• Perform heavy lifting when necessary for loading or unloading mobility devices or luggage while adhering to safety standards.
• Maintain accurate records of routes, incidents, vehicle inspections, and passenger counts in writing or digital logs.

Qualifications

• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for school bus or transit vehicle operation.
• Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or transit bus operation is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and emergency response procedures for transportation.
• Ability to perform quick responses to traffic changes and emergency stop procedures confidently.

Pay: $23.00 - $27.25 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 30.0 per week
