School Caretaker

The successful candidate will be employed by the school's Board of Management.

The successful candidate will have general maintenance experience, good DIY skills and gardening skills, display initiative and an ability to work independently. The successful candidate must also have an understanding of the importance of confidentiality and compliance with school Child Protection Safeguarding Policy.
The following are essential requirements:

• Own Transport.
• Clean Driver License

Previous experience in a caretaking, facilities or similar role is an advantage.

This role is for 18.75 hours a week, with the possibility of some overtime. The schedule is semi-flexible to be agreed with school managemt. While the needs of the school will determine when some work must be undertaken, there will be flexibility in arranging the weekly hours.

Duties for the role to include but are not limited to:
Key holding and alarm activation/ responsibility including outside hours. Maintenance and repair of school buildings and grounds and renewal and upkeep of paintwork to ensure that our school buildings, classrooms rooms, facilities and resources are maintained to a high standard
Repair and maintenance of school furniture, windows, fittings and fixtures and the upkeep and renewal of paintwork.
Operating electrical tools and other equipment as necessary.Ensure access to school is free of ice and check salt/grit supplies for winter.
Plan maintenance projects in cooperation with the Principal/BOM, as appropriate and
manage communication with and facilitate work by outside agencies as approriate in cooperation with the Principal.

Full compliance with the School‘s Health and Safety Policies in relation to caretaking duties and alert Principal to any Health and Safety issues around the school.
Full awareness of responsibilities under the Schools' Child Safeguarding Statements and to be able to report any concerns to the Principals without delay.

The successful candidate will be required to complete the Garda Vetting process and will be required to comply with the school's Child Safeguarding Statement, Risk Assessment and all relevant school policies and procedures.

Maintenance work may be most appropriately carried out outside of pupil contact times.
