School Cleaner

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic School Cleaner to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring all areas of the school are hygienic, well-maintained, and compliant with safety standards. Your proactive approach will contribute to a positive learning atmosphere by providing exceptional custodial services that uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough cleaning of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, offices, and common areas using appropriate cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Handle chemical agents safely by following all chemical handling safety procedures to prevent accidents or contamination.
• Operate floor buffers, scrubbers, vacuums, and other custodial equipment to maintain floors in pristine condition.
• Conduct manual handling tasks including heavy lifting of furniture, cleaning supplies, and waste disposal while adhering to safe lifting practices.
• Restock supplies such as paper towels, soap dispensers, and toilet paper to ensure facilities are fully stocked at all times.
• Follow strict safety protocols during all cleaning activities to ensure personal safety and the safety of others on site.
• Assist with minor facilities maintenance tasks such as painting touch-ups or basic repairs when necessary.
• Maintain detailed records of cleaning schedules, chemical usage, and safety inspections to ensure compliance with health regulations.
• Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to staff requests for cleaning or maintenance assistance.
• Mow and tend to lawns and support snow removal efforts.

Qualifications

• Proven janitorial or custodial experience in a school or commercial environment.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques, sanitation standards, and the operation of cleaning equipment such as floor buffers and vacuums.
• Experience handling chemical agents safely in accordance with chemical handling safety procedures.
• Physical ability to perform manual tasks including heavy lifting and prolonged standing or walking.
• Familiarity with safety protocol adherence and facilities maintenance practices.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
• Excellent communication skills with a customer service-oriented mindset.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
