Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning duties across multiple school areas, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, and common spaces using appropriate cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Handle chemical agents safely during cleaning procedures, adhering strictly to chemical handling safety protocols to prevent accidents or exposure.
• Operate floor buffers, scrubbers, vacuums, and other custodial equipment to maintain high standards of floor care and sanitation.
• Conduct heavy lifting and manual handling tasks following safe lifting practices to move furniture, supplies, or equipment as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness by emptying trash receptacles, restocking supplies, and performing routine sanitation tasks to ensure a hygienic environment.
• Follow safety protocols diligently during all maintenance activities to prevent injuries or hazards within the school premises.
• Assist with minor facilities maintenance tasks such as residential painting or industrial cleaning projects when required.
• Respond promptly to custodial requests from staff or administration with excellent customer service skills, ensuring needs are met efficiently.

Experience

• Prior janitorial or custodial experience in commercial or educational settings is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with cleaning techniques including chemical handling safety procedures and sanitation standards is essential.
• Experience operating cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, scrubbers, vacuums, and other custodial tools is advantageous.
• Knowledge of heavy lifting techniques and safe manual handling practices is required to perform physical tasks effectively.
• Background in facilities maintenance or industrial cleaning can be beneficial for supporting various school upkeep activities.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with staff and students are important for success in this role.

Pay: From $14.07 per hour
