Duties

• Assess and manage student health concerns by performing thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, injury evaluations, and symptom analysis.
• Administer medications, injections, and emergency treatments following established protocols and state nursing practice acts.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation in electronic health records (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standards.
• Provide first aid, CPR, AED operation, and basic life support during medical emergencies to stabilize students until further care is available.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and healthcare providers to develop individualized health plans for students with chronic conditions or special needs.
• Conduct health screenings such as vision, hearing, and scoliosis checks to identify potential issues early.
• Ensure school health policies are followed by maintaining compliance with health regulations and nursing policies while participating in interprofessional collaboration for student care.

Skills

• Proven experience working in Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers with exposure to hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or acute care environments.
• Strong background in pediatrics, medical-surgical nursing, or outpatient clinic settings with familiarity in infectious disease care and urgent care procedures.
• Demonstrated proficiency in EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation of patient care and medical records management.
• Skilled in venipuncture, medication administration, IV insertion, and injection techniques aligned with state Board of Nursing standards.
• Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and emergency response protocols essential for effective patient assessment and treatment.
• Ability to communicate clearly with parents, staff, and healthcare teams while maintaining patient confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
• Adept at manual handling techniques necessary for patient transfers and injury management within a school setting.
