What they need
Part-Time School Program Manager- New Castle County, DE
DELREC’s mission is to increase diversity in Delaware’s Bench, Bar and Legal Community by increasing knowledge of the law and removing barriers to careers in the justice system. We provide active learning experiences and skills development for students who need to function in a society based on the rule of law by:
Fostering a greater understanding of the law and judicial branch among students in Delaware schools;
Encouraging and supporting participation of students in Delaware in law related education;
Providing access to students in Delaware to information about careers in the legal and public service sectors; and
Supporting access to DELREC’s programs and fostering interest in legal and civics careers.
We implement programs inside and outside of the classroom, from kindergarten through law school and every step in between. In addition, we write curricula for teachers that meet Delaware’s civic standards and foster long-term relationships between law firms and local schools. Finally, we facilitate first generation law student, college, and high school events and cultivate an inclusive legal community.
Job Description: As a part-time School Program Manager, you will oversee our school workshops and our partnerships between schools and law firms. For DELREC, new business comes in the form of partnerships. You will be responsible for maintaining, coordinating, and shepherding relationships with Delaware’s schools, students, and law firms. This involves meetings in person and on zoom, coordination of school visits, communicating with attorneys and schools, and following up with surveys and evaluations. You will model and reinforce DELREC’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and represent DELREC internally and externally. You will coordinate daily logistics as necessary and ensure that each relationship is functioning beneficially for all involved.
Responsibilities include:
- Facilitate 1-hour workshops with K-12 students that meet state civics standards; coordinate lawyer volunteers for the workshops;
· Participate in weekly check-ins with DELREC’s Executive Director, setting goals and timelines and report out on progress;
· Maintain metric data and track performance of workshops;
· Communicate about DELREC’s programming and connect new potential partnerships with DELREC’s Executive Director;
· Track and maintain information on schools, attorneys, teachers, and students;
· Create, distribute, analyze and summarize workshop and program evaluations;
· Meet with attorneys prior to school visits to model workshops and expectations;
· Ensure excellence of programmatic operations, communicating with school personnel;
· Ensure that all workshops have the supplies they need for success.
General Requirements: This is a hybrid job in that sometimes you are at home, sometimes you are at schools in New Castle County, and sometimes you are at the office. But you will need to be available for workshops 5 days of the week, as needed by our teacher partners. You are an insightful and creative problem solver who can work independently and with confidence. You are organized, a good communicator, responsive, inclusive, warm, and supportive to youth of all backgrounds. You are proactive, reflective, and purpose driven. You have a college degree and experience as an educator working with children and ideally in program management.
· Self-starter; excellent communicator with students, adults, and professionals;
· Organized and responsible; you respond promptly to emails within 24 hours;
· Must be able to transport yourself to multiple schools throughout the state;
· Adept at utilizing technology, in particular Zoom, Microsoft Suite, and Google Suite;
· Excellent time management skills with ability to prioritize effectively;
· Extremely good judgment, integrity and sense of responsibility;
· Must have excellent interpersonal skills;
· Must be passionate about social change, and driven to support children;
· College degree required; master’s degree in education preferred;
-Spanish language proficiency preferred.
