Registered Nurse (RN) — High School | High‑Acuity Student Support

ABOUT THE ROLE

A full‑time Registered Nurse (RN) is needed to support a high‑population high school in Newberry, SC. The campus has experienced an increase in medically complex student needs this year, including seizure activity, and requires additional nursing coverage to ensure safe daily operations.

The RN will work alongside an existing nurse and provide direct care, emergency response, medication administration, and ongoing health monitoring for students with chronic and acute medical conditions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide daily onsite nursing coverage for a large high school population
• Respond to medical events, including seizure activity, using established protocols
• Implement individualized health plans (IHPs) and emergency‑action plans
• Administer medications and maintain compliant documentation
• Monitor students with chronic conditions (e.g., seizure disorders, diabetes, asthma, OHI)
• Coordinate care with the existing RN, administrators, and district health leadership
• Communicate effectively with families, care teams, and external providers
• Maintain accurate health records, incident reports, and clinic documentation
• Support general clinic operations including triage, first aid, and student assessments

QUALIFICATIONS

Active South Carolina Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
The following credentials/experience are accepted and preferred:

• RN license in good standing (compact license accepted)
• Experience with seizure‑response, emergency care, or pediatric populations
• School‑based, clinic, hospital, or community health experience
• Ability to administer rescue medications and coordinate emergency services
• Strong documentation, communication, and crisis‑management skills
• Ability to work full‑time, onsite through June 30, 2027

South Carolina school nursing roles typically accept RNs without requiring specialized school‑nurse certification, provided the RN meets state medication‑administration and emergency‑response standards.

• 30‑minute unpaid lunch
• 37.5 hours per week

COMPENSATION

Hourly Rate: $50–$55/hour
Weekly Range (37.5 hours/week): $1,875–$2,062.50/week
Rate depends on experience and school‑based nursing background.
