School Registrar

DEAP’S MISSION

As a result of a DEAP education, students will be able to use their cultural, vocational, and academic skills to analyze their surroundings in order to plan the transformation of their community and their world, live a healthy life and use the tools they were taught to achieve holistic wellness, use their understanding of identity, and its impact on local and global communities to promote the restoration and perpetuation of Diné culture, and honor the history and the legacy of the Dził Ditł’ooí area by consciously balancing the needs of the land with the needs of the people.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

DEAP Charter School in Navajo, NM is seeking a Registrar to manage and maintain student and staff records. The Registrar will coordinate DEAP’s Student Information System, Synergy, and manage enrollments, withdrawals, course scheduling, and support with state reporting requirements. Additionally, the Registrar will lead attendance tracking and collaborate with families to support strong student attendance rates. Finally, the Registrar will handle day-to-day school communications including answering the office phone and communicating with families about events, scheduling conferences, and other priorities as identified by the administrative team.

ABOUT DEAP

Founded in 2015 by a coalition of engaged community members, Dził Ditł’ooí School of Empowerment Action and Perseverance is dedicated to supporting students’ holistic development as leaders in the fight for Diné Culture and Language Revitalization. DEAP centers Diné Language, Culture, and Philosophy through Land-Based Healing and Learning, rigorous academics, and community-based service learning that empowers students to understand themselves as leaders and vital members of their communities. As a New Mexico Public Charter School, authorized by the NM Public Education Commission, DEAP continues to work with the community to build a generational foundation.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to manage and organize confidential student and human resource data efficiently
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, co-workers, and community stakeholders
• Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new software quickly

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working in Indigenous, Tribal, rural, or culturally diverse schools.
• Knowledge of Diné culture, language, and community values
• Previous experience managing confidential data, Student Information Systems, and/or school front office
• Previous secretarial experience is beneficial

COMPENSATION

• $35,000 - $45,000 per year, depending on experience
• Benefits provided through NM Public Schools Insurance Association
