School Science Technician

We are seeking a Science Technician for a permanent FTTE up to 0.5 role for the remainder of the year and 2027. Working alongside kaiako, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality technical and administrative support to the Science Learning Area. You’ll assist teaching staff by ensuring practical lessons are thoroughly resourced, organised, and run safely and efficiently.

Collaborating closely with senior science staff, this position reduces pressure on kaiako/teachers to ensure seamless department-wide lab operations. Beyond lesson support, key responsibilities include managing laboratory spaces, maintaining equipment and implementing safety processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, set up, pack down, and deliver materials and equipment for all science practicals.

• Maintain, inventory, and safely store laboratory equipment, chemicals, and resources.

• Oversee day-to-day management of laboratory spaces, ensuring they are clean, orderly, and compliant with safety standards.

• Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, including maintaining safety documentation and facilitating safe laboratory practices.

• Coordinate the efficient sharing and use of equipment across the Science Faculty.
