Duties

• Safely operate school vans and ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations.
• Transport students to school on scheduled routes.
• Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR and emergency stop procedures when necessary.
• Maintain clear communication with school, regarding route changes or delays, responding quickly to traffic changes or unexpected situations.
• Conduct vehicle inspections before each shift to ensure vehicle safety, report any maintenance issues promptly.
• Uphold student discipline policies, promote positive behavior management during transit, and ensure passenger safety at all times.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations at the state and local levels.
• Experience working with children or in childcare settings; ability to manage student behavior effectively.
• Certification in first aid and CPR; training in emergency response procedures for transportation is highly desirable.
• Reliable, responsible attitude with quick response skills to traffic changes or emergencies; excellent customer service orientation.
