Scientific Informatics Program

Join our Scientific Informatics Program — an opportunity for students and early-career professionals in Biology, Chemistry, Medicine, or related fields to gain practical IT skills for Life Sciences.

You’ll learn Python programming, bioinformatics, and cheminformatics through flexible, self-paced online modules with practical assignments and automated feedback. No prior IT experience required — just motivation and a passion for science and technology.

By Participating, You Will Have The Opportunity To

• Gain practical experience in Bioinformatics or Cheminformatics
• Gain practical experience in Python development
• Gain fundamental knowledge and practical experience in cloud (AWS), Git, databases and API

The Program Embraces 2 Stages

• Fundamentals: self-paced education (part-time engagement, ~14h/week) - current stage
• Specialization: self-paced education + mentoring (part-time engagement, ~20h/week) - participants who successfully complete the Fundamentals stage will be eligible to participate in the selection process for the Specialization stage

Requirements

• English level B2 or higher
• Background in Biology, Chemistry, Medicine, or related fields
• Motivation and analytical thinking; prior programming experience is a plus, but not required

Students who will be enrolled in the Specialization stage are provided with an EPAM Student account.

To activate the account, the following software requirements must be met:

• A smartphone running Android 14 or later or iOS 17 or later
• Installation of the Microsoft Authenticator application
