About the role

Assist surgeons and the operating team before, during, and after surgical procedures. Maintain strict aseptic and sterile techniques throughout the procedure and ensure surgical instruments and equipment are properly handled, cleaned, and prepared for sterilisation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and arrange surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies according to the procedure
• Perform instrument, swab, and needle counts before, during, and after surgery
• Anticipate the surgeon's needs and provide the appropriate instruments and supplies during procedures
• Assist with patient preparation, positioning, and transfer while maintaining patient safety and comfort
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with infection control, safety, and clinical protocols
• Monitor the availability and readiness of surgical supplies and equipment
• Work closely with surgeons, anaesthetic personnel, nurses, and other healthcare team members to ensure smooth operation of the procedure
• Perform other nursing duties as assigned by the supervisor or Head of Department

About you

• Diploma or Degree in Nursing
• Registered with the Malaysian Nursing Board (LJM) and possess a valid Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
• Previous experience as a Scrub Nurse or in an operating theatre is preferred
• Good knowledge of surgical procedures, infection control, and aseptic techniques
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Responsible, organised, and able to work effectively as part of a healthcare team
• Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
