Job Summary

About the Role: FNP is looking for a Software Development Engineer - 1 (Backend) to join our engineering team and contribute to building scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems for a fast-growing digital business.

We are looking for builders who care about why something is being built, not just how. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in backend engineering, an ownership mindset, and an interest in solving real-world technology problems at scale.

Responsibilities

• Backend Development: Contribute to the design and development of scalable and maintainable backend systems.

• Performance: Write efficient code while developing an understanding of concurrency, memory usage, and performance optimization.

• Database Development: Work with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and DynamoDB and understand relational database use cases.

• Streaming Caching: Work with technologies such as Kafka, Redis, RabbitMQ, or similar systems for event-driven applications.

• Search Systems: Contribute to search and product discovery solutions using Elasticsearch or Apache Solr.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, and other engineers to deliver business-focused technology solutions.

• Code Quality: Follow engineering best practices to build reliable, secure, and maintainable software.

• Ownership: Take ownership of assigned problems and contribute to improving customer experience and business outcomes.

  Qualifications

• Relevant software engineering experience within the 1-4 year range covered by the SDE-1/SDE-2 JD.

• Experience in e-commerce, fintech, gaming, or high-scale consumer technology is a strong plus.

• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn modern engineering practices.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and thrive in ambiguity.

  Core Engineering Skills

• Knowledge or proficiency in modern programming languages such as Go, Java, or Node.js.

• Understanding of backend development and performance fundamentals.

• Working experience with MongoDB, DynamoDB, and relational databases.

• Exposure to Kafka, Redis, RabbitMQ, or similar streaming and caching technologies.

• Familiarity with Elasticsearch or Apache Solr.

  Good to Have

• React.js, Angular, or similar frontend technologies.

• Next.js, Gatsby, or similar SSR/SSG frameworks.

• React Native, Flutter, or native mobile development.

• Exposure to GCP, AWS, or similar cloud platforms.

• Understanding of CDNs, caching strategies, and web performance.

• Exposure to AI/ML tooling, recommendation engines, or personalization frameworks.
