SDET Engineer (Automation)

About the role

The SDET is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing manual and automated testing solutions to ensure software quality and release readiness. The role focuses on developing and maintaining automated test frameworks and test suites using TypeScript or other modern programming languages, with hands-on experience in Playwright or comparable automation frameworks. The SDET collaborates with Product Management, DevOps, and business stakeholders to drive test strategy, automation, quality engineering practices, and continuous improvement throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement manual and automated testing solutions.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test frameworks and test suites.
• Evaluate user stories, use cases, and requirements for validity, feasibility, and testability.
• Develop and execute automated tests for functional, regression, integration, API, and end-to-end testing.
• Execute manual testing when required to support comprehensive product validation.
• Report and track defects, ensuring effective communication across teams, particularly with Product Management.
• Collaborate with DevOps, Product Management, and business stakeholders to plan and coordinate testing and release activities.
• Support automated quality validation within DevOps and CI/CD workflows.
• Recommend improvements to testing tools, frameworks, processes, and quality engineering practices.
• Drive test strategy and quality initiatives across projects and releases.

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field
• 5–7 years of experience in quality assurance, including both manual and automated testing.
• Proven experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks and test suites.
• Proficiency in TypeScript or another modern programming language used for test automation.
• Experience building and maintaining automated tests using Playwright or a comparable automation framework.
• Strong understanding of test automation architecture, testing principles, and quality engineering best practices.
• Experience testing REST APIs, integrations, and modern web applications using both manual and automated techniques.
• Experience with test management, defect tracking, and Agile software delivery practices.
• Experience working within a DevOps environment, including CI/CD workflows and automated quality validation.
• Experience using Git and collaborative source control workflows.
