Seamstress/Tailor

SUMMARY:

Responsible to ensure that all uniforms are maintained in accordance with established standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

• Performs uniform alterations when new uniforms are issued.
• Design, alter, and repair garments.
• Being able to modify garment styles based on employee’s body shape and determining how the alteration should be done.
• Altering or repairing garments and other articles which includes hemming, mending, lengthening as well as taking in and letting out seams.
• Accurately measuring guests using tape measures to ensure proper fit of garments.
• Demonstrate sound knowledge of various fabrics and sewing techniques.
• Ability to safely use different types of sewing machines.
• Use of irons and pressing machines to erase the creases on garments and other articles.
• Ensuring that sewing machines and other equipment are in good working order.
• Assists with uniform inventory.
• Processes uniform returns for terminated employees.
• Washes, dries, presses, and spot-cleans uniforms as necessary.
• Performs emergency alterations and repairs.
• Prepares new uniform merchandise to be entered into the uniform inventory system.
• Assists other staff members with general clerical and office duties.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred and/or three years related experience or training.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

The ability to operate all commercial sewing equipment with professional alteration skills and results. The ability to analyze and solve alteration problems.

Ability to work under time constraints.

Detail-oriented.

This position requires a Level 4 Gaming License.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries from other employees or guests. Exceptional customer service abilities and communication skills.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense reasoning to variety of situations.
