Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Secondary Science Teacher to join our team at Tawas Area Middle School. Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state and national science standards.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and collaboration.
• Utilize a variety of teaching methods and instructional materials to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
• Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, tests, and projects, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
• Foster a culture of inquiry and scientific exploration by encouraging students to ask questions and conduct experiments.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary lessons and participate in school-wide initiatives.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and behavior, while adhering to school policies and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to promote student success and address any concerns.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with educational best practices.
• Supervise and mentor students during extracurricular activities, including science fairs and clubs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Valid teaching certification for Secondary Science in the state of Michigan.
• Strong knowledge of science content and pedagogy, with the ability to teach various science disciplines (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Proven ability to create engaging and effective lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Experience with classroom management techniques and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
• Proficiency in using educational technology and resources to enhance instruction.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
