Secondary Teacher

About Bodhi
Bodhi is a small private K–12 school. We serve general education and special education students. We created Bodhi to be a place to stay and grow. Students build on their progress year after year. Working with students, our goal is to help them be positive, contributing members of society.

The Classroom
One secondary classroom, grades 6–12. Every student follows an individualized plan. Some students have disabilities. Depending on the need, they may share an aide or have a one-to-one aide. Aides work under the teacher’s direction.

How Instruction Works
Students with gaps in core subjects use an online platform to close them. Math uses an online platform, a textbook, or both, depending on the student. The teacher gives direct instruction as students need it. Social studies and science use open-source college-style texts. Students turn in notes and definitions. The teacher reviews them and lectures on each topic as students need it. Students also write book reports and essays. Ready students can take dual enrollment courses through our university partner.

Responsibilities

• Manage a multi-grade classroom working from individualized plans
• Review student notes and definitions, and give feedback
• Plan and deliver lectures based on student needs
• Assign and grade book reports and essays
• Direct classroom aides
• Support students with IEPs and accommodations
• Track progress and write documentation for ESA and IEPs
• Communicate regularly with parents

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card, or the ability to obtain one
• Experience with secondary students

Preferred

• Secondary or SPED certification
• Experience with multi-grade or individualized instruction
• Comfort teaching across subjects

School Life
Music twice a month. Optional Bible study on Fridays. Cooking every Wednesday, though the students would cook all week.

Schedule and Pay
Full-time, salaried · Paid twice a month

Pay: $35,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
