Section Manager - Product Engineering

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, we are seeking a Section Manager - Product Engineering to join Airfoil Services Sdn Bhd. This is a full-time position based in Kota Damansara, Selangor. As Section Manager - Product Engineering, you will lead and oversee the product engineering section, driving technical excellence and ensuring the successful delivery of engineering projects. This role is strategically important to our organization, as you will be instrumental in optimizing our product development processes, enhancing team capability and ensuring alignment with company objectives and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, manage and supervise a team of product engineers, providing technical guidance, mentoring and professional development opportunities
• Oversee the planning, design and development of engineering products and solutions, ensuring adherence to quality standards and project timelines
• Monitor and review project performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions
• Manage technical resources, budgets and schedules to ensure efficient project execution and cost effectiveness
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, quality assurance and client stakeholder to facilitate seamless product development
• Establish and maintain engineering documentation, specifications and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members to drive continuous improvement
• Represent the engineering section in management meetings and contribute to strategic planning and decision-making processes
• Champion innovation and continuous improvement within the product engineering function

What we're looking for

• A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in product engineering or a related engineering field
• At least 3 years of proven experience in a supervisory or management role leading engineering teams
• Strong technical knowledge and expertise in product design, development and manufacturing processes
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously whilst maintaining quality and meeting deadlines
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members
• Proficiency in relevant engineering software and computer-aided design (CAD) tools
• Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities with a focus on practical solutions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages are advantageous
• Professional engineering accreditation or registration (such as Professional Engineer status) is preferred
• Experience in quality management systems (ISO 9001) and lean manufacturing principles is beneficial
