Security Analyst - L1

Role Summary: The L1 Security Analyst is the first line of defence, responsible for continuous monitoring of security systems, initial alert triage, and basic incident identification within the telecom network environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor security dashboards and SIEM alerts 24x7x365.
• Perform initial analysis and triage of security events and incidents.
• Escalate confirmed incidents to L2 SOC Specialists following established procedures.
• Document all actions taken and observations in incident management systems.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for alert handling.

Essential Qualifications:

• Relevant Experience: 1-2 years in IT operations, network support, or an entry-level security role.
• Certifications (Optional/Good to Have): CompTIA Security+, CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate).
• Typical Skills:
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts (e.g., malware, phishing, DDoS).
• Familiarity with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) for alert monitoring.
• Basic knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux) and network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS).
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and checklists.
• Communication Skills: Clear and concise written communication for incident logging and basic reporting; effective verbal communication for internal team handovers.
• Analytical Skills: Basic ability to identify anomalies and patterns, attention to detail, and problem-solving aptitude.
• Basic Telecom Network Knowledge: Awareness of basic network components (routers, switches, firewalls)
