What they need
Looking for a role where you can make a real difference while working in one of New Zealand's most beautiful coastal destinations?
At Raglan Holiday Park Papahua, we're more than just a place to stay. We're a place where families create lifelong memories, friends reconnect, surfers chase the perfect wave, and travellers experience the unique atmosphere that makes Raglan so special.
We're looking for a friendly, reliable and community-minded Security Assistant to join our team and help ensure our guests, visitors and staff feel safe and supported throughout their stay.
The opportunity
This role is about much more than security.
You'll be a visible, approachable presence around the park, providing reassurance to guests, supporting staff, responding to issues when they arise, and helping maintain the safe and welcoming environment our visitors value.
Whether you're assisting a guest, carrying out a routine patrol, or helping resolve a situation professionally and calmly, you'll play an important part in creating a positive experience for everyone who visits.
We are looking for team members to join us from early November, with training provided before our peak summer season, through to approximately mid-April.
Raglan Holiday Park Papahua operates 24/7 so applicants will need flexibility to work a range of shifts, including weekdays, nights, weekends and public holidays.
We are advertising and interviewing now to allow enough time to complete our pre-employment process before successful applicants start training in November.
Preferred candidates will be required to complete relevant pre-employment checks prior to starting, which may include a medical assessment, drug and alcohol testing and police vetting, depending on the requirements of the role.
What will I do?
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting regular patrols throughout the holiday park
- Monitoring for safety, security and maintenance concerns
- Responding to incidents and guest enquiries professionally
- Assisting with after-hours issues and emergencies
- Maintaining accurate incident records and reports
- Supporting park staff and management when required
- Helping ensure guests can relax and enjoy their stay with confidence
- Promoting a safe, respectful and welcoming environment for all
What will I bring?
We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys helping people and can balance professionalism with a friendly approach.
You will:
- Hold a Full New Zealand Driver Licence
- Certificate of Approval (COA) and First Aid Certificate (preferably)
- Be calm, level-headed and confident in a variety of situations
- Have excellent communication and people skills
- Be approachable and customer-focused
- Take pride in looking after the wellbeing of others
- Be reliable, trustworthy and responsible
- Work well independently while also supporting the wider team
Experience in security, customer service, hospitality, accommodation, tourism or community-facing roles would be advantageous, but most importantly we're looking for someone with the right attitude and a genuine commitment to keeping people safe.
Why join our team?
Imagine finishing a shift overlooking the harbour, knowing you've helped create a safe and enjoyable environment for visitors making memories in Raglan.
When you join our team, you'll enjoy:
- Working in a stunning waterfront location in the heart of Raglan Harbour.
- Being part of a friendly and supportive team that genuinely cares about its people.
- Contributing to a holiday destination loved by generations of visitors.
- A role with variety, responsibility and purpose.
- The opportunity to make a positive difference every day.
Additional Information
Hourly rate: $29.90 (Living Wage).
Please note we will be screening applications as they come through.
We have a strong safety culture and as part of this our preferred candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment medical assessment which includes alcohol and drug testing.
Applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
