I'm supporting an innovative organisation within the UK Space sector that is looking for a Security Assurance Manager to play a key role across a portfolio of complex Defence and Space programmes.

I'm looking for someone who has delivered Secure by Design within Defence. Ideally, you will also have the technical credibility to challenge engineering teams and can influence stakeholders at all levels to drive secure outcomes.

You'll act as an independent assurance function across critical programmes, ensuring security requirements are embedded from concept through to delivery. You'll work closely with engineering, programme delivery and senior leadership teams, providing robust assurance while balancing operational, commercial and security priorities. This isn't a role focused on audits and compliance alone. It's about understanding how secure systems are designed, delivered and assured in real-world Defence environments.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead Security Assurance activities across complex Defence and Space programmes
• Ensure Secure by Design principles are effectively implemented throughout programme delivery
• Review and challenge infrastructure, cloud, application and solution designs
• Assess security risks and provide independent assurance against technical and programme requirements
• Produce high-quality assurance reports and recommendations for senior stakeholders
• Own and review security artefacts including Security Management Plans, Risk Assessments, Risk Registers and Threat Models
• Coordinate vulnerability assessments, penetration testing activities and remediation programmes
• Participate in governance forums, programme reviews and security working groups
• Work closely with engineering and delivery teams to ensure security controls are implemented effectively
• Support certification, contractual assurance and customer security requirements
• Influence decision-making across technical, operational and leadership teams

What We're Looking For

• Experience delivering Secure by Design within Defence programmes or projects
• Strong Security Assurance or Information Assurance background
• Ability to challenge engineering and technical teams constructively
• Strong technical understanding of infrastructure, cloud and application security
• Experience reviewing technical designs and verifying security controls
• Experience producing assurance artefacts including Risk Assessments, Security Management Plans, Threat Models and Compliance Reports
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
• Experience communicating security risk to both technical and senior business audiences
• Strong understanding of security assurance, risk management and governance principles
• Active SC Clearance or eligibility to obtain
