Join the security team at The Smoking Gun, a busy downtown bar and restaurant known for sporting events, Cowboys games, and weekend nightlife. From a packed game day to a late-night crowd or private event, you’ll help guests feel welcome and keep the night running smoothly. If you’re dependable, approachable, and good at reading a room, we’d like to meet you.

What you’ll do

• Welcome guests and handle questions and entry decisions respectfully.

• Check identification and follow our alcohol-service and admission policies.

• Manage entry, capacity, lines, and guest flow, keeping entrances and exits clear.

• Recognize potential problems early, use calm de-escalation, and involve a manager promptly when support is needed.

• Communicate clearly by radio and in person with managers, bartenders, and other security staff.

• Stay attentive, maintain a professional uniformed presence, and support a safe environment throughout the venue.

• Follow incident-reporting, emergency, and safety procedures.

What we’re looking for

• Reliability, punctuality, sound judgment, and a guest-service mindset.

• Availability for evening and late-night work and weekends. Sunday coverage is a priority; please describe your regular availability.

• Clear communication and the ability to stay calm in a busy, crowded setting.

• Experience in bar, restaurant, event, or hospitality security is helpful. Relevant customer-service and de-escalation experience is also welcome.

Licensing and training

This is an unarmed, uniformed position employed directly by The Smoking Gun. Valid California BSIS Proprietary Private Security Officer (PSO) registration and required training must be in place before security duty. Please tell us if you hold another BSIS registration so we can verify that it applies to this role.

Because this role checks IDs for entry to licensed premises, California Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification is required within 60 days of starting this role.

• Do you currently hold an active California BSIS PSO registration? If you hold a Guard Card or another BSIS registration instead, state its type and expiration date so we can verify eligibility before assigning security duties.
• Briefly describe your bar, restaurant, event security, or guest-service experience. Include one example of how you calmly handled or prevented a difficult guest situation.
• What is your regular availability for evenings and late nights on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday? Please note any unavailable weekends in October.
• Do you currently hold California RBS certification? If not, can you complete the required certification within 60 days of starting this role?
