Security Engineer – Embedded / Product Security

I’m recruiting for a Security Engineer to join a specialist product security team working on the security of high-assurance embedded products.

This is a hands-on role focused on finding vulnerabilities before they become problems — analysing how secure devices can be attacked, proving those attacks in practice, and helping engineering teams turn the findings into stronger countermeasures.

You’ll work across products such as HSMs, authentication devices, cryptowallets, smartphones and other embedded systems , covering everything from firmware and bootloaders through to protocols, middleware, APIs and applications.

What you’ll be doing

• Auditing the security of embedded products and software
• Reverse engineering firmware and low-level software
• Identifying, exploiting and demonstrating vulnerabilities
• Fuzzing and developing attack tooling / automation
• Assessing bootloaders, firmware, OS, middleware and update mechanisms
• Working with communication protocols such as USB, NFC and SPI
• Validating security countermeasures
• Contributing to offensive and defensive security R&D
• Sharing technical findings with engineering and security teams

What we’re looking for

You’ll ideally have experience in areas such as:

• Reverse engineering
• Fuzzing
• Vulnerability research and exploitation
• Embedded systems / firmware security
• C / C++
• Linux or low-level systems
• Communication protocols
• Security research, CTFs or technical security challenges

Experience with hardware security, secure elements, cryptography, side-channel analysis or fault injection would be useful, but is not essential.

This would suit someone from an embedded security, offensive security, firmware security, product security or vulnerability research background who enjoys getting close to the technology and understanding how systems can actually be broken.

The position is onsite in Pessac, near Bordeaux , and relocation support can be available for candidates moving to the area.
