We are looking for a reliable, responsible, trustworthy, and alert individual to join our team as a Security Gateman and become the first line of defence in safeguarding our premises.
In this important role, you will be responsible for controlling access points, monitoring security systems, conducting regular patrols, and helping to ensure the safety of employees, visitors, contractors, and company property. We are looking for someone who takes their responsibilities seriously, remains vigilant throughout their shift, and can respond calmly and appropriately to security concerns or emergencies.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is dependable, observant, and committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment while developing valuable skills in security, surveillance, and emergency response.
Responsibilities
- Manage entry and exit points by verifying the credentials of employees, visitors, contractors, and delivery personnel.
- Monitor and control access to the premises to prevent unauthorised entry.
- Conduct regular surveillance using CCTV cameras to monitor activity around the facility and identify any suspicious or unusual behaviour.
- Carry out routine inspections and patrols of the premises to ensure safety and security procedures are being followed.
- Implement loss-prevention measures by remaining alert to theft, damage, trespassing, or unauthorised access.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to security incidents, emergencies, and safety concerns.
- Provide basic first aid when necessary, where appropriately trained.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all entries, exits, incidents, visitors, deliveries, and surveillance activities throughout your shift.
- Report any suspicious activity, security breaches, safety hazards, or incidents to management promptly.
- Check that security equipment, CCTV systems, gates, doors, alarms, and other relevant equipment are operational.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with employees, visitors, contractors, emergency responders, management, and relevant authorities when required.
- Follow all company security procedures, health and safety requirements, and emergency protocols.
- Remain professional, approachable, and respectful when dealing with members of the public and people entering or leaving the premises.
- Assist emergency responders and management during critical situations to help ensure a swift and effective response.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in security, surveillance, access control, or a similar role is an advantage but not essential.
- Ability to remain alert, attentive, and focused during long shifts.
- Strong observational skills and the ability to identify unusual or suspicious activity.
- Basic knowledge of CCTV operation and surveillance procedures.
- First-aid training or certification is preferred, although training may be provided where applicable.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to keep clear, accurate, and confidential records.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Trustworthy and professional when dealing with people and company property.
- Ability to remain calm and follow procedures during emergencies or difficult situations.
- Able to work independently while also cooperating effectively with colleagues and management.
- Committed to maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for everyone on the premises.
The Person We Are Looking For
Above all, we are looking for someone reliable and dependable who can be trusted to carry out their duties properly. The successful candidate should be punctual, responsible, honest, observant, and willing to follow instructions and security procedures.
You should take pride in your work, remain professional at all times, and understand the importance of being vigilant and attentive while on duty. Previous security experience is welcome, but the right attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn are equally important.
What We Offer
We are committed to supporting our staff with appropriate training, guidance, and a positive working environment. This role provides an opportunity to develop practical experience in security, surveillance, access control, emergency response, and loss prevention.
All roles are paid positions, and we value the contribution that every member of our team makes towards maintaining a safe and secure environment.
