Security Guard

Key Responsibilities

Access Control

• Control and monitor entry and exit points to the premises.
• Verify employees, visitors, contractors, and vehicles where required.
• Ensure visitors follow the required sign-in and security procedures.
• Prevent unauthorised persons from accessing restricted areas.
• Conduct searches of persons, vehicles, or property where authorised and in accordance with company procedures and applicable requirements.

Patrols and Monitoring

• Conduct regular patrols of buildings, yards, parking areas, gates, fences, and other designated areas.
• Identify suspicious behaviour, security risks, unsafe conditions, or damage to company property.
• Check doors, gates, windows, and other access points during patrols.

Incident Response

• Respond promptly and calmly to security incidents, alarms, emergencies, and suspicious activities.
• Report theft, vandalism, trespassing, damage, misconduct, or other security concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Assist with emergency procedures and evacuations when required.
• Contact emergency services or other authorised personnel when necessary.

Reporting and Record Keeping

• Maintain accurate occurrence books, registers, patrol records, and incident reports.
• Record visitors, vehicles, deliveries, and contractors where required.
• Report unusual activities or incidents clearly and promptly.
• Provide proper handover information to the incoming shift.

General Duties

• Maintain a professional and alert presence while on duty.
• Enforce site security rules and company procedures consistently.
• Assist employees, visitors, and contractors with security-related enquiries.
• Protect company assets and immediately report potential losses or security breaches.
• Perform other reasonable security-related duties assigned by management.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12
• Psira Grade A will be advantageous
• Relevant security training or certification required for the position.
• Previous security guarding experience is advantageous.
• Ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
• Ability to communicate clearly and complete written security reports.
• Physically capable of conducting patrols and performing normal security duties.

Working Conditions

The position may require prolonged standing, walking, outdoor duties, shift work, night work, and working in varying weather conditions. The employee may be required to respond to emergencies and security incidents as part of normal duties.

Pay: R10 000,00 - R15 000,00 per month
