Security Guard

Position Summary

The Security Guard is responsible for controlling access to SILT premises, inspecting incoming and outgoing vehicles and trailers, verifying documentation and authorization, maintaining accurate security logs, and reporting safety concerns or irregularities to protect company property and ensure compliance with SILT security procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Access Control: Monitor entry and exit of employees, drivers, vendors, visitors, and service providers. Verify authorization when required and keep the lift gate closed except for authorized access.
• Vehicle and Trailer Inspections: Conduct visual inspections of trucks and trailers for visible damage, tire conditions, lights, cleanliness, and other safety concerns. Verify truck and trailer numbers, license plates, loaded or empty status, and seal numbers when applicable.
• Documentation Verification: Review shipping and delivery paperwork to ensure information matches the corresponding vehicle, trailer, and seal. Report missing documents or discrepancies.
• Vendor and Equipment Control: Record service provider visits and verify required information and authorization when SILT vehicles, units, or equipment are removed from the premises.
• Safety and PPE Compliance: Monitor compliance with posted speed limits, traffic signs, parking rules, and required personal protective equipment (PPE). Report unsafe behavior and violations.
• Security Logs and Photographs: Maintain accurate records of arrivals, departures, authorizations, inspections, incidents, and discrepancies. Take photographs of damage, seal conditions, or other irregularities as required.
• Communication and Incident Reporting: Notify Dispatch or the appropriate SILT personnel through designated communication channels regarding arrivals, damages, safety concerns, unauthorized access, or other irregularities.
• General Responsibilities: Protect company property, maintain professionalism, follow SILT security and safety policies, and perform other related duties as assigned by management.

• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing more than 25 lbs.
• Ability to work outdoors and in varied weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures.
• Ability to remain standing and walk for extended periods as required by the job.
