Job Details

Canadian Security Solutions is seeking a reliable, professional Security Guard to support the safety of staff, clients, and community partners in a supportive housing environment.

The ideal candidate possesses strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively with vulnerable populations. They must be comfortable responding to crises, de-escalating conflicts, and assessing potential threats with limited information.

We are looking for someone who remains calm under pressure, adapts to changing situations, and demonstrates compassion while consistently enforcing site rules and security procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional and positive company image.
• Conduct routine patrols of the property, including corridors, entrances, parking areas, and surrounding grounds.
• Monitor for suspicious activity, safety hazards, unauthorized access, and property violations.
• Assess and respond to disturbances, emergencies, and potentially violent situations using appropriate de-escalation techniques.
• Enforce property rules and address violations professionally and respectfully.
• Prevent unauthorized tents or structures from being established on the property, in accordance with site policies.
• Coordinate with police and emergency services when required.
• Document daily activities, incidents, and security concerns accurately.
• Follow established safety, emergency response, and security procedures.
• Assist staff, clients, and visitors when necessary.
• Monitor and control building access.
• Respond to disruptive behaviour while maintaining a safe environment.

Perform other position-related duties as required.

Qualifications

• Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence (required).
• Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
• Strong assessment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Knowledge of emergency response procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours.
• Clear criminal background check.
• Minimum Grade 12 education.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous security experience, preferably in supportive housing or similar environments.
• Relevant education or experience working with vulnerable populations.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training.
• Mental Health First Aid certification.
• De-escalation training or experience.
• Valid driver's licence.

Site and Schedule

Site Coverage: Two security guards on duty, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Available Shifts:

• 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM
• 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM

Weekday and weekend shifts available.

Pay: $19.00-$20.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
