About us
Hightower designs, installs and supports electronic security systems for commercial, industrial, multi-family and educational properties across Western Canada. Our work includes access control, video surveillance, video intercom, intrusion alarms, parcel lockers, networks and phone systems, on both new construction and retrofits. We work with the industry’s leading security platforms.

The role
We’re looking for a reliable installation technician to install, terminate, program and service security systems on commercial job sites. You’ll work on your own or with a small crew, and you’ll often be the face of Hightower on site with contractors, property managers and clients.

What you’ll do

• Pull, terminate and test low-voltage cabling (Cat6, composite, alarm and access control cable)
• Install and wire access control hardware: controllers, readers, maglocks, electric strikes, door contacts, REX devices and power supplies
• Mount, aim and configure IP cameras, NVRs and video intercoms
• Install and program intrusion alarm panels and devices
• Program systems and set up network devices (IP addressing, switches, PoE)
• Troubleshoot and repair existing systems on service calls, including systems installed by other companies
• Keep job sites clean and safe, and record installs with labelling, photos and as-built notes
• Work with general contractors and other trades to keep projects on schedule

What we’re looking for

• 2+ years installing low-voltage, security, electrical or communication systems
• Comfortable with hand and power tools, ladders, ceiling spaces and working at heights
• Basic understanding of wiring, power supplies and networking
• Able to read drawings and follow wiring diagrams
• Dependable, punctual and able to work on your own
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs

Assets

• Manufacturer certifications in access control, video surveillance or intrusion systems
• Electrician or communications apprenticeship or ticket
• Safety tickets: Fall Protection, WHMIS, Aerial Work Platform, CSTS
• Experience on commercial construction sites

Pay: $24.78-$40.54 per hour

Expected hours: 44.0 per week
