Security Officer

Job Overview

Duties

• Monitor security cameras (CCTV) and surveillance systems to detect suspicious activity and ensure physical security.
• Control access to facilities using access control systems, performing background checks on visitors and contractors as needed.
• Conduct regular patrols of the premises, including buildings, parking areas, and perimeter fences, to identify potential security breaches or hazards.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations by following established procedures, including fire safety protocols and medical emergencies such as first aid or CPR.
• Write detailed incident reports documenting security breaches, accidents, or other noteworthy events for record-keeping and future reference.
• Perform manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting when necessary for security equipment or supplies.
• Manage conflict de-escalation techniques to resolve disputes peacefully while maintaining safety for all parties involved.

Requirements

• Level 2 Certified
• Proven experience in physical security, law enforcement, military service, or related fields is highly desirable.
• Certifications in first aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), AED (Automated External Defibrillator) operation, Taser use, firearm handling, and conflict management are preferred.
• Knowledge of surveillance technology including CCTV systems and access control systems is essential.
• Ability to perform background checks and conduct thorough security screenings efficiently.
• Strong understanding of emergency response procedures and compliance with security regulations.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with diverse individuals.
• Physical fitness to perform patrolling duties, including heavy lifting and prolonged standing or walking periods.
• Demonstrated ability to handle stressful situations calmly while making quick decisions during incidents or emergencies.
