Security Officer

Duties

• Monitor security cameras and surveillance systems to detect suspicious activity and ensure the safety of the premises.
• Control access points using advanced access control systems, verifying identities and authorizations of employees, visitors, and vendors.
• Conduct regular patrols of the facility, including perimeter checks and interior inspections, to identify potential security breaches or hazards.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations by following established protocols, including fire safety procedures, first aid administration, AED operation, and emergency communication.
• Write detailed incident reports documenting security breaches, accidents, or other noteworthy events with clarity and accuracy.
• Perform background checks on new employees or vendors as part of the onboarding process to ensure compliance with security regulations.
• Engage in conflict de-escalation techniques when necessary to manage disputes peacefully while maintaining professionalism and safety.

Skills

• Proven experience in physical security or law enforcement roles with knowledge of surveillance techniques such as CCTV monitoring.
• Strong understanding of emergency response procedures including first aid, CPR, AED operation, and fire safety protocols.
• Ability to perform manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting and managing equipment safely.
• Excellent conflict management skills with the ability to de-escalate tense situations effectively.
• Familiarity with access control systems and security technology including Taser use where permitted by law.
• Exceptional customer service skills to interact professionally with visitors and staff while maintaining security standards.
• Knowledge of compliance regulations related to security operations and loss prevention strategies.
