Security Officer

Duties and Responsibilities

• Observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned site, providing for the security and safety of hotel/resort property and personnel
• Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses; obtaining signatures
• Preserves orders and may act to enforce regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, guests, and premises
• Controls access to hotel/resort property
• Patrols assigned site on foot, bicycle, or in vehicle; checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked entrances and exits, and unauthorized persons
• Protects evidence or scene of incident in the event of accidents, emergencies, or security investigations
• Responds to incidents of fire, medical emergency, flooding, water discharge, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other incidents
• Prepares logs and reports as required
• Protects the organization's image by keeping security and incident information confidential
• Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Strong command of the English Language – written and verbal
• Knowledge of security operations and procedures
• High level of integrity
• Ability to maintain professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances
• Ability to adapt to changes in the external environment and organization
• Ability to write routine correspondence, including logs and reports
• Ability to analyze situations objectively while demonstrating emotional control
• Good organizational skills
