Job Summary:

The Security Officer at Valley View Mall is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all tenants, guests, and staff. This position plays a key role in daily operations by combining security enforcement with strong customer service and tenant support. Officers are expected to be visible, approachable, and proactive in preventing issues before they arise.

Key Responsibilities: Safety & Security

• Conduct routine foot patrols of interior corridors, exterior grounds, and parking areas
• Monitor CCTV cameras and alarm systems
• Respond quickly to incidents, disturbances, and emergencies
• Enforce mall policies including loitering, after-hours access, and prohibited activities
• Identify and address safety hazards (spills, broken fixtures, unsecured doors, etc.)
• Assist with opening and closing procedures for the mall

Tenant & Guest Relations

• Provide excellent customer service by assisting guests with directions and general inquiries
• Build positive working relationships with tenants and check in regularly
• Respond to tenant concerns including disturbances, suspicious activity, or safety issues
• Support tenants during busy periods, promotions, or special situations

Incident Response & Reporting

• De-escalate conflicts using professionalism and sound judgment
• Document all incidents, accidents, and unusual activity in detailed reports
• Coordinate with local law enforcement, fire, and emergency services when needed
• Follow proper procedures for medical emergencies, evacuations, and severe weather

Property Support

• Assist management and maintenance teams by reporting maintenance issues
• Help monitor vendor and contractor activity on-site
• Provide security support during mall events, holiday seasons, and high-traffic times
• Enforce curfew policies or youth supervision guidelines (if applicable)

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous security, retail, or customer service experience preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
• Basic computer skills for reporting and camera systems

Pay: From $15.50 per hour
