Security Officer

Responsibilities

• Monitor surveillance systems such as CCTV cameras to detect suspicious activity and ensure continuous security coverage.
• Conduct regular patrols of the premises, including buildings, parking areas, and perimeter fences, to identify potential security breaches or hazards.
• Control access to the facility using access control systems, verifying identities and authorizations for employees, visitors, contractors, and vendors.
• Respond promptly to incidents or emergencies by following established procedures, including fire safety protocols, medical emergencies, or security breaches.
• Write detailed incident reports documenting any security-related events or concerns for future reference and compliance purposes.
• Perform background checks on new employees or vendors as part of the onboarding process to ensure safety standards are met.
• Utilize conflict de-escalation techniques and conflict management skills to handle disputes or unruly individuals professionally and effectively.

Experience

• Prior experience in security roles within environments such as corporate facilities, military settings, law enforcement agencies, or private security firms is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated knowledge of physical security measures including CCTV operation, access control systems, fire safety equipment (such as AEDs), Taser deployment, firearm handling (where legally permitted), and emergency response procedures.
• Skills in surveillance techniques, incident report writing, heavy lifting, manual handling, and performing background checks are essential.
• Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as AED operation or fire safety training are advantageous.
• Proven ability to manage conflicts calmly while maintaining compliance with security regulations and safety protocols is crucial for success in this role.
