We are currently seeking a professional, customer-focused, and reliable Security Officer to join our team on a full-time permanent basis at Mill Gate Shopping Centre, Bury.

Role Overview

As a Security Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of shoppers, tenants, staff, contractors, and visitors. You will provide a highly visible presence whilst delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment throughout the shopping centre.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols of the shopping centre and external areas.
• Monitor CCTV systems and security equipment.
• Maintain a visible security presence to deter theft, anti-social behaviour, and criminal activity.
• Provide excellent customer service and assistance to visitors and retailers.
• Manage access control for service yards, delivery areas, and contractors.
• Respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, and fire alarms.
• Complete accurate incident reports and daily activity logs.
• Liaise with retailers, centre management, emergency services, and local authorities.
• Identify and report maintenance defects, hazards, and health & safety concerns.
• Assist with the safe opening and closing procedures of the shopping centre.
• Support the centre management team in maintaining a secure and welcoming environment.

Person Specification

Essential

• Valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence.
• Valid SIA CCTV Licence.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Professional and approachable manner.
• Good organisational and report-writing skills.
• Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and bank holidays.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable, punctual, and well-presented at all times.

Desirable

• Previous shopping centre or retail security experience.
• First Aid qualification.
• IOSH qualification.
• Good computer literacy and experience using security reporting systems.

Hours

Full-time, permanent position

• Average 42 hours per week
• Shift pattern to include days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays as required

Experience

• Security: 2 years preferred
• Retail or Shopping Centre Security: Preferred

Licences/Certifications

• SIA Door Supervisor Licence (Required)
• SIA CCTV Licence (Required)
• First Aid at Work (Preferred)
