Location: APAC region
Reporting to: SOC Manager / Cybersecurity Operations Lead
Employment Type: Full-time
Role Summary:
We are seeking an entry-level SOC / Cybersecurity Analyst to join our Security Operations Center supporting a global organization. This role will prioritize the monitoring, investigation, and response needs of the APAC region, while contributing to global, follow-the-sun security operations.
The successful candidate will help identify potential security threats, triage alerts, investigate suspicious activity, document findings, and escalate incidents in accordance with established procedures. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career cybersecurity professional to build hands-on experience in incident detection and response, security monitoring, and threat analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor security alerts and events from SIEM, EDR/XDR, cloud-security, identity, network, and other security platforms.
- Perform initial alert triage to distinguish potential false positives from events requiring further investigation.
- Investigate suspicious activity by reviewing logs, endpoint telemetry, authentication events, network traffic, and other available evidence.
- Prioritize and manage APAC-related security alerts and incidents, while providing support for global operations as required.
- Follow documented incident-response playbooks and escalation procedures.
- Escalate confirmed or high-risk incidents to senior analysts, incident responders, or relevant technology teams.
- Maintain clear, accurate, and timely case documentation, including investigation steps, evidence, findings, and recommended actions.
- Support shift handovers and communicate material incidents or ongoing investigations to regional and global SOC colleagues.
- Identify recurring alert patterns, false-positive trends, and opportunities to improve detection rules, documentation, or operational playbooks.
- Stay current on common cyber threats, attacker techniques, vulnerabilities, and security best practices.
- Participate in training, knowledge sharing, tabletop exercises, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Degree, diploma, certification, or equivalent practical experience in cybersecurity, information technology, computer science, networking, or a related discipline.
- Foundational understanding of cybersecurity principles, including phishing, malware, identity-based attacks, endpoint threats, and common attack techniques.
- Basic familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Foundational networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, VPNs, firewalls, and common network protocols.
- Exposure to log analysis or security-monitoring tools, such as a SIEM, EDR/XDR, vulnerability-management, identity, or cloud-security platform.
- Ability to investigate issues methodically, document work clearly, and follow established processes.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with colleagues across different countries, cultures, and time zones.
- Willingness to participate in a shift-based or on-call support model, where required by the operational coverage schedule.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant entry-level certification, such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft SC-900, Certified SOC Analyst, or an equivalent credential.
- Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK, incident-response lifecycle concepts, and security-alert triage.
- Exposure to a SIEM platform such as Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, IBM QRadar, or a comparable tool.
- Basic scripting knowledge in PowerShell, Python, Bash, or another relevant language.
- Experience from an internship, lab environment, help desk, IT operations, network administration, or other technical support role.
- Knowledge of one or more APAC languages in addition to English.
Skills and Competencies:
- Analytical and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to remain calm and organized during time-sensitive incidents.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Curiosity and commitment to continuous learning.
- Ability to assess priorities and follow escalation paths.
- Team-oriented mindset, including effective regional and global collaboration.
- Respect for confidentiality and sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
