Security Operations Engineer

Security Operations Engineer – 3+ Month contract (Expected to be 9-12 months in repeated 3 month contracts) – Amsterdam - Unfortunately no ZZP/Freelance

The role

We are looking for a Security Operations Engineer to maintain, support and improve enterprise security platforms. You will focus on day-to-day operations, technical implementation and lifecycle management, ensuring that security infrastructure remains stable, secure and up to date. This is a hands-on role suited to junior-plus to mid-level engineers with experience in security technologies and operational support.

Responsibilities

• Perform lifecycle management of security platforms, including software upgrades, patching, licence renewals and hardware replacements.
• Implement security changes and remediation activities.
• Maintain and support F5, Palo Alto, Check Point, Cisco ASA and Cisco ESA/IronPort environments.
• Troubleshoot incidents and resolve operational issues.
• Execute automation using Ansible playbooks and Terraform deployments.
• Use Git for version control and support operational automation with Python.
• Maintain technical documentation and follow operational procedures.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and platform stability.
• Participate in a 24/7 support rotation.

Skills

• Experience in Security Operations, Security Engineering or infrastructure security.
• Knowledge of network security platforms such as F5, Palo Alto or Check Point.
• Understanding of security implementation, configuration and troubleshooting.
• Experience with platform maintenance, upgrades, patching or remediation.
• Familiarity with Ansible, Terraform, Git and Python.
• Relevant certifications such as PCCET, PCNSA, PCNSE, Check Point CCSA/CCSE, F5 CA/CTS or Cisco CCNA/CCNP Security are advantageous.
• Willingness to participate in a 24/7 operational environment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and a proactive approach to operational support.
