Security Operations Lead

Role: Cybersecurity Operations Lead

Are you an experienced cybersecurity professional with a strong background in security operations, vulnerability management, and managed security service provider (MSSP/MSP) oversight?

This is an opportunity to play a key role in strengthening cybersecurity operations, improving security coverage, and ensuring suppliers deliver against agreed security standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operational engagement with MSSP and MSP providers.

• Monitor security coverage across the IT estate, including endpoints, identity, email, cloud and SaaS services.

• Drive vulnerability and security findings through to verified closure.

• Track supplier performance, remediation SLAs, detection tuning and outstanding security gaps.

• Maintain incident response playbooks, operational procedures and escalation frameworks.

• Coordinate tabletop exercises and support incident response activities.

• Manage security exceptions, critical threat advisories and risk reporting.

• Produce clear, evidence-based operational reports and executive summaries.

• Work closely with Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Applications, GRC and Service Desk teams.

Essential Experience

• At least 5 years’ experience in security operations, including 2+ years managing MSSP/MSP relationships.

• Proven experience managing vulnerabilities across multiple suppliers through to verified remediation.

• Hands-on knowledge of enterprise SIEM and vulnerability scanning platforms.

• Experience developing incident response playbooks, runbooks and SOPs.

• Experience conducting tabletop exercises.

• Strong reporting, communication and supplier management skills.

Desirable Experience

• Irish or EU public sector cybersecurity experience.

• Knowledge of NIS2 and the NCSC Public Sector Cyber Security Baseline Standards.

• Understanding of identity, email and cloud security monitoring.

• Experience onboarding new services into security monitoring during transformation programmes.

• Relevant certifications such as GCIH, CySA+, CISSP or equivalent.
