Security Operator

Job Summary:

The Security Operator plays a critical role in safeguarding the organization’s assets, personnel, and operations by providing centralized monitoring, incident detection, and timely reporting. Assigned in the Control Room, the role ensures 24/7 surveillance of security systems, including CCTV and alarm platforms, across depots, tank farms, and eco-marine facilities. The position requires strong situational awareness, accuracy in reporting, and close coordination with on-site security and operations teams to ensure a secure and compliant working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Surveillance and Monitoring

• Perform continuous monitoring of CCTV systems, access control systems, and alarm panels to detect unusual or suspicious activities.
• Ensure full visibility and coverage of critical areas, including tank farms, loading/unloading zones, perimeter fences, and marine docking areas.
• Conduct routine system checks to confirm all surveillance equipment is functional and report any technical issues immediately.

2. Incident Detection and Response

• Identify potential security threats, safety hazards, or operational irregularities in real time.
• Initiate immediate escalation procedures and coordinate with field personnel, supervisors, and emergency responders when necessary.
• Support incident containment by providing accurate information and live updates to response teams.

3. Documentation and Reporting

• Prepare comprehensive incident reports, including timelines, observations, actions taken, and recommendations.
• Maintain detailed logs of daily activities, system alerts, visitor monitoring, and security incidents.
• Ensure reports are clear, factual, and submitted within required timelines for audit and compliance purposes.

4. Operational Support and Coordination

• Act as the communication link between security personnel, operations team, and management.
• Provide real-time updates on site activities, especially during marine transfers, fuel movements, and critical operations.
• Assist in implementing and monitoring compliance with company security policies and safety protocols.

5. Compliance and Risk Management

• Enforce adherence to company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Monitor high-risk zones such as fuel storage tanks, pipelines, and marine transfer points.
• Support internal audits, inspections, and investigations by providing necessary documentation and footage.

6. Emergency and Crisis Management

• Assist in the activation of emergency response procedures (e.g., fire, spill, intrusion, or security breach).
• Maintain composure and provide accurate coordination during high-pressure situations.
• Ensure proper documentation and reporting of all emergency-related incidents.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology (BS Crim) or related fields such as Marine Studies, Information Technology, Security Management, or equivalent.
• Proven ability to prepare structured, accurate, and detailed reports.
• Experience or familiarity with CCTV monitoring, control room operations, or surveillance systems.
• Knowledge or exposure to industrial environments, particularly depots, tank farms, or marine (eco-marine) operations, is highly preferred.
• Strong observational skills with high attention to detail.
• Effective communication and coordination abilities.
• Proficient in basic computer applications (MS Office and monitoring software).
• Willing to work on a 24/7 shifting schedule, including weekends and holidays.
