At Advent One, our Security Solutions Engineer role blends hands on security engineering with customer facing consulting. You'll protect our own environment while helping our customers solve real security challenges, translating technical requirements into practical, fit-for-purpose solutions. Reporting to the CISO, you'll sit at the intersection of operational delivery and advisory work. It's a genuinely varied role for someone who likes to build, solve, and advise.

What you'll do

• Security engineering & operations:  Implement and maintain controls across identity, endpoint, cloud and network domains. Run monitoring, alert triage, vulnerability management and remediation. Deploy, optimise and troubleshoot security tooling which also keeping documentation and runbooks sharp.
• Incident response & threat management : Lead detection, containment and remediation. Drive detection engineering, SIEM tuning and use-case development in Microsoft Sentinel. Be the escalation point for complex issues across teams and vendors.
• Risk, compliance & governance:  Operate and improve our ISMS (ISO/IEC 27001:2022), support IRAP readiness and Australian Government ISM alignment while owning risk management, audit prep and security policy.
• Security solutioning & customer engagement:  Contribute to customer advisory engagements across identity, cloud security, SecOps, Securing AI and governance. Run technical discovery and assessments, design solutions, build reusable artefacts and present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.

What you'll bring

• Hands on security engineering and operations across identity, endpoint, cloud and network
• Strong IAM and PAM expertise (Entra ID, Conditional Access, PIM)
• Cloud security experience across Azure and AWS
• Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 27001:2022 or ISO/IEC42001, the Australian Government ISM
• SIEM experience (eg: Sentinel, Huntress, CrowdStrike) detection engineering, and Log Analytics
• Incident response and vulnerability management
• Clear communication, ability to translate technical risk into business language
• A customer focused, outcomes driven, collaborative approach

What you'll need

• Degree, diploma or equivalent industry experience in Cybersecurity, IT or a related field
• 3–5 years in security engineering/architecture, security operations or a related technical discipline
• Experience in customer-facing consulting, advisory or solutioning
• Australian citizen, able to obtain and hold an Australian Government security clearance

Nice to have

• Microsoft Security certifications (SC-200, SC-300, AZ-500)
• CompTIA Security+
• ISO/IEC 27001 or ISO/IEC42001 Foundation or Lead Implementer
• IRAP familiarity
• Experience in managed services, consulting, or a cybersecurity practice
• AI and automation applied to cybersecurity
