Bungalow Security Group is looking for an experienced Security Operations Supervisor to lead the security operation for a new hospitality and late-night venue in Surry Hills.

This is a hands-on management role leading a small, consistent team of licensed security officers.

The operation is deliberately lean. The Security Operations Supervisor will form part of the rostered security team during venue trade while also taking responsibility for recruitment, rostering, training, standards, compliance and incident management.

We are looking for someone who is confident leading from the floor and understands that strong venue security is as much about judgement, communication and guest experience as it is about enforcement.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

• Leading the security operation during venue trading hours
• Working directly alongside a small team of licensed security officers
• Managing venue entry, ID checks, crowd control and patron safety
• Recruiting, screening and onboarding security officers
• Preparing weekly security rosters and arranging shift coverage
• Conducting pre-shift briefings and allocating responsibilities
• Training and developing security personnel
• Managing staff performance and maintaining team standards
• Coordinating incident response and escalation
• Reviewing incidents, reports and CCTV where required
• Maintaining accurate security records and compliance documentation
• Ensuring all officers maintain current licences, RSA, First Aid and required qualifications
• Developing and implementing practical security procedures and SOPs in consultation with venue management
• Working closely with venue management on patron safety, operational risks and major events
• Liaising with NSW Police, emergency services and other authorities where required
• Identifying practical improvements to the security operation as the business develops

The Operation

This is not a large multi-site security contract.

The initial team is small, with approximately 2 security personnel rostered on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday and 3 on Friday and Saturday, including the Security Operations Supervisor.

Because of the size of the operation, this is not an office-based management position.

You will be expected to work alongside the team, lead by example and remain directly involved in the venue operation.

As the business grows, there is opportunity for the position and security operation to develop further.

What We Are Looking For

You will ideally have:

• Current NSW Class 1A Security Licence
• Current NSW RSA
• Current First Aid certification
• At least 5 years' security industry experience
• Strong experience within licensed venues, nightlife, hospitality or entertainment
• Previous experience supervising or managing security personnel
• Strong crowd-control and patron-management experience
• Excellent conflict-resolution and de-escalation skills
• Strong incident-reporting and administrative capability
• Good understanding of security compliance and operational procedures
• Confidence dealing with venue management, police and other stakeholders
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• High personal presentation and professional standards
• A calm, measured approach under pressure

Previous experience recruiting and building security teams or managing venue security operations will be highly regarded.

The Approach

We are not looking for an aggressive or old-school approach to venue security.

Security is part of the overall guest experience.

The right person will understand how to be approachable and professional while maintaining clear boundaries and stepping in decisively when required.

Good judgement, communication and de-escalation are essential.

Roster

Wednesday to Sunday 7:30pm - 3:30am

Typical operational shifts will fall within the venue's evening and late-night trading hours.

Monday and Tuesday are generally rostered days off.

The position is full-time and will combine operational shifts with the management, recruitment, training and compliance responsibilities required to run the security function.

Remuneration

$90,000 per annum + superannuation
