Security Systems Engineer (full time)

Hours: Full Time (Overtime Available)
On-Call: 1 in 5 weekends – primarily telephone support
Location: Castleford, West Yorkshire
Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence required

Key Requirements

• Proven experience as a Security Systems Engineer, with strong technical knowledge of CCTV and Access Control systems
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills, with a logical and methodical approach to problem solving
• Experience working with both legacy analogue CCTV and modern IP/HD CCTV systems
• Hands-on experience with Access Control systems
• Experience with detection-activated CCTV and integrated security systems is highly desirable
• Confident working independently on customer sites and providing professional technical support
• Full UK driving licence
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• High standards of workmanship, organisation and attention to detail
• Ability and willingness to support apprentices, sharing practical knowledge and maintaining engineering standards
• Willingness to participate in the 1 in 5 weekend on-call rota

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Security Systems Engineer to join our team in Castleford.

This is a hands-on engineering role suited to a technically strong engineer who is confident diagnosing faults, delivering quality installations and providing effective service and maintenance support.

You will work across a varied range of security systems, from legacy analogue CCTV through to modern IP-based HD surveillance, as well as Access Control, detection-activated CCTV and integrated security solutions.

The role involves working directly with customers on-site, so a professional approach, excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to customer service are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, service and maintain CCTV and Access Control systems
• Diagnose and resolve faults across analogue and IP-based CCTV systems
• Carry out technical fault-finding and provide effective solutions
• Work with detection-activated CCTV and integrated security systems
• Attend customer sites and provide professional engineering and technical support
• Complete installations, maintenance and repairs to a consistently high standard
• Identify issues logically and methodically, minimising system downtime for customers
• Maintain accurate records and follow company engineering procedures
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, presentation and customer service
• Support apprentices on-site by sharing technical knowledge, practical skills and company engineering standards
• Represent D J Byers Security Systems Ltd professionally when dealing with customers

On-Call Requirements

The successful candidate will participate in a 1 in 5 weekend on-call rota.

The on-call period covers:

• Friday: 16.00-20.00
• Saturday: 08:00–17:00
• Sunday: 08:00–17:00

The role is primarily telephone-based technical support, with site attendance only where required.
