What they need
Do Great Work With a Company That Gives You the Support to Be Exceptional
BTI Communications Group is looking for experienced commercial security systems technicians with hands-on experience in access control, video surveillance/VMS, intrusion alarm systems, or a combination of these technologies.
We are looking for technicians who take pride in their work and want to work for a company that takes their success just as seriously.
At BTI, we believe exceptional field technicians deserve an environment that helps them succeed: quality products and materials, well-equipped vehicles, strong technical and project support, training opportunities, challenging work, and recognition for outstanding performance.
You do not have to leave field service to build a great career here.
If you enjoy installing, servicing, troubleshooting, programming, commissioning, and taking care of customers, we want to give you the environment to keep getting better at your craft.
As your capabilities grow, opportunities can grow with them - whether that means becoming an exceptional senior field technician, developing deeper programming and commissioning expertise, learning additional security platforms, expanding your networking knowledge, mentoring other technicians, or eventually moving toward engineering, system design, or technical leadership.
At BTI, the goal isn't to move you away from the work you enjoy. It's to give good technicians the support to become exceptional at it.

What You'll Do
This is a hands-on field position covering the complete scope of commercial security system installation and service - from pulling and terminating cable and mounting devices to programming, troubleshooting, and final commissioning.
Your responsibilities may include:
· Install, service, program, and commission commercial access control, video surveillance/VMS, and intrusion alarm systems
· Perform installation work including cable pulling and termination, device mounting, equipment installation, labeling, testing, and system checkout
· Configure access control panels, cameras, recording systems, VMS platforms, alarm equipment, and network-connected security devices
· Troubleshoot system, device, network communication, and integration issues
· Perform system upgrades, expansions, equipment replacements, and takeovers
· Test and commission completed systems to ensure proper operation and BTI quality standards
· Work from drawings, scopes, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer documentation
· Document programming, system changes, testing, and completed work
· Communicate professionally with customers, project managers, engineers, and other trades
· Train customers on system operation when required
· Identify installation, design, or technical issues that could affect system reliability and work with BTI's engineering and technical resources to resolve them
· Take ownership of assigned work and leave systems operating properly, documented, and ready for the customer
We expect our technicians to be willing to do the hands-on work the project requires, take pride in doing it well, approach problems professionally, and keep building their capabilities.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for experienced commercial security technicians with a solid field foundation, strong troubleshooting instincts, and pride in the quality of their work.
You don't need experience with every product BTI supports. We're more interested in technicians who have developed real capability on professional commercial security systems and have demonstrated that they can learn new technologies.
What You Should Bring
· Hands-on commercial electronic security installation and service experience
· Strong experience in at least one of these areas: access control, video surveillance/VMS, or intrusion alarm systems
· Working experience with other security disciplines and a willingness to develop those skills further
· Ability and willingness to perform complete field installations when required
· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
· Ability to read drawings, wiring diagrams, scopes of work, and manufacturer documentation
· Basic understanding of IP networking and network-connected security devices
· Professional customer communication skills
· Dependability, accountability, and the ability to work independently
· Pride in workmanship and attention to detail
Experience We Especially Value
· Programming and commissioning access control, VMS, video, or alarm systems
· Advanced service and troubleshooting experience
· Manufacturer certifications on commercial security platforms
· Experience with Software House, Kantech, ExacqVision, DSC, Axis, Milestone, Avigilon, AVA, Openpath, Brivo, or comparable platforms
· Experience troubleshooting networks, servers, controllers, databases, or integrations supporting security systems
· Experience with larger commercial, enterprise, or multi-site environments
· Experience as a lead technician, mentor, or technical resource for other technicians
You don't need to check every box. If you have a strong commercial security background, take your craft seriously, and have the ability and desire to keep learning, we want to hear from you.
Build Your Career Your Way
We believe career growth should mean more than moving into management.
Some technicians want to become exceptional at field service, installation, troubleshooting, programming, and commissioning. Others eventually want to expand into networking, engineering, system design, project leadership, or technical management.
BTI needs and values both.
As your capabilities grow, your opportunities can grow with them - whether that means becoming a highly trusted senior field technician, specializing in programming and commissioning, earning additional certifications, taking on more technically challenging projects, mentoring other technicians, or moving toward engineering, design, or leadership.
Exceptional Performance Should Matter
BTI values technicians who take ownership of their work, solve difficult problems, take care of customers, help their teammates, continue developing their skills, and consistently deliver high-quality results.
Increasing your value shouldn't depend solely on getting out of the field or becoming a manager.
Technical capability, certifications, versatility, customer service, leadership, workmanship, reliability, and the ability to solve increasingly difficult problems all create value.
Our goal is simple: give good people the environment to succeed, recognize exceptional performance, and create opportunities for people who continue increasing what they can contribute.
Work That Goes Beyond Installation
BTI works with commercial and enterprise customers that depend on their security systems as part of their broader technology infrastructure.
Our work goes beyond installing cameras, card readers, and alarm devices. We design, install, commission, service, and support security solutions that increasingly connect with networking, servers, identity, cybersecurity, managed services, and other business-critical technologies.
For our technicians, that means exposure to sophisticated systems, challenging technical problems, and opportunities to develop broader skills while still doing the hands-on field work that makes those systems successful.
No matter how advanced the technology becomes, the fundamentals still matter. A well-designed security system depends on quality installation, programming, commissioning, documentation, troubleshooting, and service.
That's why great field technicians are so important to what we do.
