What they need

About Jerritt Canyon

The Jerritt Canyon deposit was discovered in 1972, and the first gold production from the property occurred in 1981. The Jerritt Canyon property contains 30,821 hectares of mining claims located in the mining-friendly state of Nevada. First Majestic acquired the Jerritt Canyon Gold Mine from Sprott Mining Inc. on April 30, 2021. In May 2023, operations were suspended to prioritize exploration and technical studies. Jerritt Canyon is now entering a new phase of evaluation and planning, requiring substantial technical support to advance the work necessary for a potential future restart of operations.

The Opportunity

The Security Systems Technician installs, administers, maintains, and repairs the electronic security infrastructure that protects Jerritt Canyon's people, facilities, and critical assets. The role supports access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, gate systems, communications, and associated network-connected equipment.

The successful candidate is a practical, safety-focused troubleshooter who can work independently, coordinate with site teams and vendors, maintain accurate technical records, and provide Security Officer coverage when operationally required.

Responsibilities

  • Administer access control systems, including card readers, controllers, electronic locks, badges, credentials, databases, and reporting functions.
  • Maintain video management systems, IP cameras, recording servers, intrusion detection, intercoms, gate controls, barriers, and communications equipment.
  • Install, configure, test, and document security hardware, software, low-voltage wiring, cable terminations, and network-connected devices.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, firmware updates, system backups, and lifecycle planning for security assets.
  • Diagnose hardware, software, network, power, and communications failures; respond to service requests and critical system outages.
  • Coordinate with Security, Information Technology, Human Resources, Safety and Health, Operations, vendors, and contractors to resolve technical issues.
  • Support integrations with HR databases, time and attendance platforms, network infrastructure, and emergency notification systems.
  • Maintain accurate installation, repair, upgrade, inventory, spare-parts, configuration, and service records.
  • Generate access, alarm, video, and system-performance information for operations, audits, inspections, and investigations.
  • Follow cybersecurity practices for connected devices and perform Security Officer duties when additional coverage is needed.

The above responsibilities are representative and may not include all assigned duties.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree, technical certification, or formal training in electronics, IT, telecommunications, or a related field preferred.
  • At least three years of experience installing and maintaining electronic security systems.
  • Experience with enterprise access control, VMS, low-voltage systems, and network-connected devices; industrial or mining experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, troubleshooting, and customer-service skills.
  • Working knowledge of IP networking, Windows systems, servers, workstations, low-voltage wiring, and cable termination.
  • Ability to read technical diagrams, schematics, wiring plans, and system documentation.
  • Ability to prioritize work independently in a dynamic 24-hour operation while protecting confidential information.
  • Clear communication, organization, documentation, and recordkeeping skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to provide after-hours support and meet site screening requirements.
