What they need
Important Schedule & Travel Requirements
This is a night-shift position.
The typical work schedule is four 10-hour shifts per week, approximately 8:30 PM–6:30 AM starting on either Sunday or Monday night.
This position also requires regular overnight travel. Some projects may be located 3–4 hours away from our Petersburg office, and technicians should expect to stay out of town during the four-day workweek when required.
Travel time is paid, and per diem is provided for qualifying out-of-town work.
Applicants should only apply if they are comfortable working nights and regularly staying out of town during the workweek.
About the Position
Techwise Integrated Security is looking for dependable individuals interested in starting or growing a career in commercial security systems installation.
Previous low-voltage or security-system experience is not required.
You will work alongside experienced technicians installing systems such as:
- CCTV and video surveillance
- Access control
- Burglar and intrusion alarm systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Structured cabling and related low-voltage systems
This is a hands-on field position. You will learn the trade by working directly with experienced technicians on active commercial job sites.
This is a security systems installation position, not a traditional electrician position.
What You'll Do
- Work with Lead Technicians and other crew members on commercial installation projects
- Pull and route low-voltage cable
- Install cable supports, pathway hardware, and related materials
- Assist with mounting cameras, keypads, alarm devices, and other equipment
- Assist with installing and wiring security and life-safety devices
- Use ladders and scissor lifts to perform overhead work
- Use drills, hand tools, fish tape, glow rods, and other installation tools
- Label and organize cabling and equipment
- Learn how to terminate and test low-voltage cabling
- Learn how to read floor plans, drawings, and installation documentation
- Help keep tools, materials, and job sites organized
- Follow direction from Lead Technicians and Project Managers
- Assist with troubleshooting and testing installed systems
- Develop the skills needed to eventually work more independently
What We're Looking For
We are primarily looking for someone who is:
- Dependable and consistently shows up on time
- Willing to learn
- Comfortable performing physical, hands-on work
- Able to follow instructions
- Able to work well as part of a small crew
- Comfortable using or learning to use hand and power tools
- Willing to ask questions and learn from experienced technicians
- Interested in developing a long-term skilled trade career
Requirements
- No previous low-voltage experience required

- Ability to perform overhead and physical work throughout the shift
- Ability to pass required background checks
- Willingness to obtain required Virginia DCJS registration if not already registered
- Willing to share a hotel room with another technician.
Previous experience in construction, electrical work, telecommunications, security systems, cable installation, maintenance, mechanical work, or another skilled trade is helpful but not required.
Pay & Benefits
- $18.00–$23.00 per hour, based on experience and capabilities
- Paid travel time
- Per diem for qualifying out-of-town work
- Overtime opportunities based on project workload
- Medical, dental, and vision benefits
- Paid time off

Growth Opportunities
This position is intended to be more than an entry-level labor position.
Technicians who develop their installation, troubleshooting, and leadership skills can take on increasingly independent work and advance into higher-level technician and Lead Technician positions.
We want to develop employees who can eventually understand a project, solve problems in the field, and take ownership of their work.
Starting pay is $18.00–$23.00 per hour, with significant potential for growth as your skills, experience, and responsibilities increase.
