What they need

Join an established security team with the work, conditions and support behind you.

Degree C is looking for an experienced Security Technician to join our Ulverstone team.

You do not need to be a qualified electrician for this role. If you do hold an Electrical Licence, that's certainly an advantage, but what we're really looking for is someone with strong security industry experience who can take ownership of their work.

The role goes beyond installation and servicing. You'll work across security systems, fault-finding and maintenance, while also having responsibility for quoting and managing security projects through to completion.

It's a good opportunity for someone who knows the industry, enjoys the technical side of the work and is ready to have greater involvement in how jobs are planned, quoted and delivered.

The Role

As part of our Security team, you'll work across a range of commercial and industrial sites, installing, servicing and maintaining electronic security systems.

You'll be trusted to work independently, diagnose problems and deliver quality outcomes for our customers, while having the backing of an experienced team and a well-established Tasmanian business.

Importantly, you'll also play a role in the commercial and operational side of our security work – preparing quotes, planning jobs and managing projects from initial scope through to completion.

Your role will include:

  • Installation, servicing, maintenance and fault-finding of electronic security systems
  • Working across CCTV, access control and associated security systems
  • Assessing customer and project requirements and developing practical solutions
  • Preparing quotes and scopes of work
  • Planning and coordinating security projects
  • Managing jobs through installation, commissioning and completion
  • Coordinating materials, equipment and other resources required for projects
  • Communicating with customers, suppliers and internal teams
  • Maintaining accurate job and project documentation
  • Managing your own workload and priorities
  • Delivering work safely and to a high standard

You'll have plenty of autonomy, but you won't be left to figure everything out yourself. You'll have experienced people, established systems and the broader Degree C team behind you.

About You

We're looking for someone with solid experience in the security industry who takes pride in their work and is comfortable taking responsibility for a job from start to finish.

You'll ideally bring:

  • Previous experience as a Security Technician
  • Experience with CCTV, access control and electronic security systems
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to scope work and prepare quotes
  • The organisation and communication skills to coordinate and manage projects
  • Confidence working independently and managing your own time
  • Professional communication and customer service skills
  • A strong commitment to quality workmanship and safety
  • White Card
  • Current driver's licence

An Electrical Licence is highly regarded but is not essential.

Experience quoting and managing security projects would also be highly regarded. If you're technically strong and ready to develop further in these areas, we'd still like to hear from you.

Why Degree C?

Degree C has been operating in Tasmania for more than 60 years and today employs more than 330 people across the state.

As Tasmania's leading multi-trade company, our teams work across electrical, security and CCTV, heating and cooling, refrigeration, mechanical, fire protection, fabrication and other specialist services.

For you, that means joining an established Tasmanian employer with the systems, people and work behind you to provide genuine long-term job security.

You'll be joining an experienced team, working across a variety of projects and being paid under conditions that recognise the value of your skills.

What you'll earn

Depending on the skills and experience you bring to the role:

Level 7 – $53.47/hour
Level 8 – $56.68/hour

And your hourly rate is only part of the package.

You'll also receive strong overtime and penalty rates.

Benefits that add up

We want our employees to understand what their entire employment package is worth – not just the number on their payslip.

Along with your base rate, you'll have access to:

  • Paid RDOs – choose an optional 36 or 38-hour week and bank hours towards RDOs, giving you regular paid days off without using annual leave.
  • Travel Allowance Time (TAT) – get paid extra when you start your day on site, with additional paid travel time applying to jobs further away.
  • Weekly redundancy contribution – Degree C pays into an approved redundancy scheme in addition to your wages, with the funds accessible when you leave the company for any reason.
  • Income protection – up to $1,600 per week if an injury or illness keeps you from working, including when it isn't work-related.
  • Parental leave top-up – 100% of your regular base salary while receiving Government Paid Parental Leave, for up to 8 weeks for a birthing parent or 4 weeks for a non-birthing parent.
  • Company vehicle – a company vehicle is provided as part of the role.
  • Uniform & PPE – work clothing and all required PPE provided.
  • Company phone or phone allowance.
  • Long-term job security with an established Tasmanian company and a strong pipeline of work.
