About the Role

Following a major cyber security incident, our client is continuing a significant security improvement programme designed to strengthen its security posture, governance, and resilience. Security Architects are already in place to define and implement the target architecture, and they are now seeking a senior Security Technology Consultant / Advisor to provide strategic oversight across the programme.

This is a leadership-focused advisory role rather than a hands-on architecture position. The successful consultant will help guide multiple security workstreams, ensure alignment across initiatives, and provide clear reporting and recommendations to senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted security advisor across an ongoing security improvement programme.
• Guide and challenge multiple security workstreams to ensure delivery against programme objectives.
• Provide oversight and coordination rather than executing detailed architecture activities.
• Consolidate findings, risks, outcomes and recommendations from various workstreams.
• Ensure consistency of approach across security initiatives.
• Translate technical outcomes into business-focused updates for leadership teams.
• Facilitate stakeholder discussions and drive alignment across technical and non-technical teams.
• Provide independent advice on security priorities, risks and remediation activities.
• Present consolidated programme updates, risks and recommendations to senior leadership.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Security Consultant, Security Advisor, Security Architect, Virtual CISO or similar senior cyber security role.
• Strong background in security governance, risk management and security transformation programmes.
• Experience coordinating multiple security initiatives and stakeholders simultaneously.
• Ability to review and challenge security strategies, roadmaps and remediation plans.
• Strong communication skills with experience presenting to senior executives and leadership teams.
• Experience translating technical security topics into clear business outcomes.
• Broad understanding of enterprise security domains, including identity, cloud, infrastructure, security operations, vulnerability management and third-party risk.
• Experience working within large, complex enterprise environments.

Nice to Have

• Experience supporting organisations following a cyber security incident or data breach.
• Telecommunications or large consumer-facing organisation experience.
• Experience within large-scale security transformation or maturity improvement programmes.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, SABSA, CCSP or equivalent.
