Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Semantic Data Architect specializing in Ontology development and Knowledge Graph construction to join our forward-thinking data team. In this role, you will lead efforts to design, develop, and maintain complex semantic data models that enable intelligent data integration, retrieval, and analysis across diverse platforms. Your expertise will drive the organization’s ability to leverage linked data, semantic web technologies, and knowledge graphs to enhance information management, content strategy, and digital asset discovery. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of data-driven decision-making and content architecture within a vibrant, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement ontologies, taxonomies, controlled vocabularies, and metadata schemas aligned with business requirements and information governance standards.
- Design and optimize knowledge graphs using graph databases such as Neo4j or RDF stores, ensuring scalable and efficient data models.
- Utilize SPARQL queries, OWL (Web Ontology Language), RDF (Resource Description Framework), and related semantic web technologies to enable complex data retrieval and reasoning capabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including content strategists, UX designers, developers, and business analysts—to translate requirements into effective semantic structures.
- Integrate semantic data models with relational databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Drupal CMS) and APIs to facilitate seamless data exchange via JSON, XML, GraphQL, and other formats.
- Apply machine learning techniques to enhance knowledge graph enrichment, entity recognition, and semantic disambiguation processes.
- Support digital asset management initiatives by implementing metadata management strategies that improve content discoverability and compliance with information governance policies.
- Conduct analysis of user research, web analytics (Google Analytics 360), SEO tools, and keyword research to inform taxonomy development and content optimization strategies.
- Maintain documentation of data models, ontologies, schemas, and metadata standards using tools like Confluence or Visio for ongoing governance.
Experience
- Proven experience designing ontologies using OWL or similar standards for knowledge representation in enterprise environments.
- Strong background in semantic web technologies including RDF, SPARQL querying language, linked data principles, and related standards.
- Hands-on experience working with graph databases such as Neo4j or other RDF triple stores; familiarity with database management systems like Microsoft SQL Server or Drupal CMS is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to develop scalable knowledge graphs that integrate structured and unstructured data sources across diverse platforms.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python for scripting automation tasks related to data modeling and semantic processing; experience with JavaScript or scripting for web integration is a plus.
- Knowledge of content management systems (CMS), digital asset management systems (DAM), taxonomy development tools, and metadata management practices.
- Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret business requirements into technical solutions that support information architecture and user experience goals.
- Familiarity with analytics tools like Google Analytics 360 or Tableau for measuring content performance; experience with SEO tools for keyword research is advantageous.
- Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively across teams including content editors, UX designers, developers, and business stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
Join us as a Semantic Data Architect to shape the future of intelligent information systems! Your expertise will empower our organization to harness the full potential of linked data and semantic technologies—driving innovation while ensuring robust information governance and impactful content strategies.
